Moving from DC, Seattle or Atlanta is never easy. Aside from the physical toll, relocating will hurt your finances, most of the time badly. Moving will cost you, but it does not need to cost you big. With a little effort, planning, and creativity, you can save yourself a few hundred dollars on your next move.

Get yourself online and search for moving companies and moving deals. There are a lot of websites offering free estimates or quote. Be careful and wary, though. You are looking for a cheap moving deal, not a cheap moving company.

It is also good to check for the official website of the moving company that you are interested in. Prepare all of your change of address materials about one month in advance. All moving supplies are available online and most of them give discounts if you buy in bulk and in advance so take advantage of that.

Work smarter, not harder and be sure to use appropriate boxes and other packing materials when packing valuable or fragile items. Clean the new house before you move all your possessions in, if it is possible. No need for an explanation here.

Clean any furniture before it is taken inside the new house. You don’t want to bring dirt and dust into your home with your furniture. Have a plan as to where your furniture should go in the new house. When moving your furniture into your new home, place it where you want it the first time.

If your moving to or from Dallas, Atlanta or Florida, you will find that a growing number of moving companies are offering a moving option that blends the conveniences of the full-service mover with the pricing of truck rental. Once a reservation is made, a trailer is dropped off at your home.

You generally have two days to load and secure your belongings in the trailer. When you have finished packing, your trailer is picked up and driven by professional drivers to your new home. You still need to be aware of hidden costs so if you get to know some terminology of moving, this is a good start to be in the know.

If a deductible is applied, that value is stated next to the cost-per-$1,000 figure. For example, 7.50/100 means that the consumer must pay $7.50 per $1,000 of assessed value to cover the load against loss, and the first $100 of damage is not covered. Keep these terms in mind to help you understand your contract better.

1. Agent -A local moving company authorized to act on behalf of a larger, national company. Appliance Dolly -Supplied by self-service movers to help you load and unload large items like appliances and over sized furniture.

2. Bill of Lading -This is the contract between the mover and the customer. It also acts as a receipt. It is important to understand everything on the bill of lading before you sign it. As the name suggests, these estimates are subject to change. With hourly rates, customers are charged by the hour per man, per truck.

l find that professional moving companies that offer free online rate quotes and interactive space estimators on their web sites help you quickly determine moving costs. This is an indicator that when a moving company offers you tools to help you calculate costs they have your best interest in mind.

Bathroom renovation projects are actually quite complicated, they might not seem that way but trust me they are. If you find yourself thinking that you could do your own renovation project then you must think long and hard about it before you decide whether that is actually a good idea! If you don’t have any renovation experience then it is probably out of the question, bathroom renovation experts are always busy, there certainly is a reason for that!

Many people convince themselves that they are capable of doing their own bathroom renovation project, however few people are actually capable. If you think about the toilet it might seem like an easy job to take out and replace, however do you know how to seal the toilet so that it doesn’t leak? It’s not a simple project, you need to get an expert in unless you have an idea of what you are doing. You should not need any caulk to prevent the toilet leaking, if you do then your toilet isn’t installed correctly. There are many items that if you are unable to install properly, such as plumbing and drywall, can cause damage in the future.

Moving To The Shower

Few things are really as easy as they seem, installing a toilet certainly isn’t. If you’re thinking the shower might be an easier proposition then you should think again. If you have no plumbing experience then this seemingly simple task could quickly become a nightmare. You would have to fit pipes in order to install a shower, it is by no means a simple project. A shower is one of the most expensive components of your bathroom, most of this cost is the labor required to install the shower. There is a very good reason why this is so expensive, because it’s a difficult task to do. When installing a shower or a bathtub there are some very important things that you must consider. If you don’t install it properly then it might leak which isn’t exactly what you’re going for now is it?!

It may seem tempting to think that you can do all of the work in your bathroom by yourself. However this is rarely the case. A smart homeowner would always call an expert rather than trying to do it themselves. Calling in an expert doesn’t make you any less of a man! Feel free to plan your renovation yourself, but when it comes to the work get an expert!

Sauna Etiquette

Posted by Amy Nutt
by Amy Nutt

To wear, or not to wear; that is the question! All kidding aside, there are some serious things to discuss when it comes to the question of clothing inside of saunas. Some people have no problems when it comes to stripping down to their birthday suits, no matter who sees them! The majority of the population however does have problems with being seen naked in public - even in a sauna. What then, is considered proper etiquette in a sauna when it comes to clothing?

I will never forget one moment in my childhood when I opened a sauna door and encountered a very unattractive, naked woman sitting inside. I quickly closed the door, and saunas have never been the same for me since! Granted, there are some settings in which you can go without your clothes in a sauna. For example, if you own your own private sauna in your home, there shouldn’t be a problem going in your birthday suit! Another example would be at a private club where the clothing option is clearly stated. In a public sauna however, it really is best to leave your clothes on.

Europeans have been using saunas for generations now, and North Americans only discovered them a few years ago. It is well known in Europe that saunas work the best when the user is not wearing any clothes at all, and maybe nudity is more accepted over there because of this fact. In North America however, nudity is not so acceptable! It is better to use a sauna without clothing, but when you think about sharing space with eight or nine other people - especially when those people are complete strangers, clothing is suddenly more important than getting the best use of the sauna.

Another reason not to forget your clothes when going into the sauna is because of the position your body must be in to get the maximum results. Sauna experts will tell you not to sit in the sauna - you must lie down to get the full sauna benefits. They will also tell you that if you do have to sit down, it is best not to let your feet dangle. In these positions, it is probably best to be clothed!

You can get away with a very small bathing suit, or even wearing a towel wrapped around your body in the sauna. As long as the material of the suit and the towel is made of breathable cotton, you should still be able to reap the full benefits of the sauna. Some very uncomfortable moments can be created when you don’t pay attention to the kind of sauna you are entering without clothing - please pay close attention to this very important detail!

Saunas can be a great experience for anyone who wants to go, and you’ve got to remember not to spoil that experience for everyone else! (Like it was spoiled for me!) Home saunas are pretty affordable to build, and if you choose an infrared heat sauna, it is actually cheap to run as well, and you can feel free to wear your birthday suit as much as you want.

Having items delivered is a good way to cut down on the pressure of the home improvement. Instead of spending a lot of time in hardware stores, searching for deals and brands, these things can be done online in much less time. The items will be delivered, cutting down on the amount of time it will take to gather the supplies.

Be sure to search through the sale circulars. The bigger home improvement stores and warehouses often have blowout sales. Be on the lookout for these events. Look through the weekly flyers for steals that can beat some of the prices that are found online. Look for the best deals to reduce home improvement costs. Bad Credit Loans - The Facts

Posted by Joanne Wareing
by Joanne Wareing

Financial Debt is a fact of life for everyone at some point; this situation is sometimes the result of outside pressures. All is not lost if you have acquired a bad credit score; most people can be helped with a bad credit loan.

Loans like this are available to help most people that require extra money and can be used just like a regular loan. Late or missed payments can often be the reason a person’s credit score has been lowered and these situations could be due to quite innocent oversights. Fortunately it is possible to rectify the situation.

For the borrower, bad credit loans may serve more than just one purpose. Money could be required for wedding expenses, education or to consolidate existing debts. There are people who borrow money even when they do not need it because they want to repair their credit score. They use a loan that they can pay regularly, as a means to achieve this.

Of the options available, the secured loan is preferable to the unsecured loan because it can provide greater funds, in the order of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars maximum. It also has a greater repayment period up to twenty five years. The second option is to arrange an unsecured loan which will reduce the amount that can be borrowed to fifty thousand dollars and reduce the term of repayment to a maximum of ten years.

The interest rate in a secured arrangement is lower than that of the unsecured option as the lender has a guarantee in the form of land, property or other valuable item which the debtor could lose if they default. With the second option of the unsecured loan, the borrower will always pay more interest as no guarantee has been provided, so finding a lender with a low unsecured lending rate becomes more important.

To find out more about the available options it is best to carry out some research online as there are even a few lenders who will provide a bad credit loan even if there are outstanding debts and court judgments. However, there aren’t many lenders giving this type of loan so if you want to get credit at a rate of interest which fits your pocket and has an acceptable time scale for repayments, you should opt for an online loan facility.

The good thing about bad credit loans is that you will probably still be able to fulfill your financial obligations without the poor credit score getting in the way. By making the loan application online it will speed up the process so you will be able to get back on with your life.

Arranging a another debt this way should enable a person to carry out their financial obligations by rebuilding credibility and reliability in the financial world at the same time, which is like having a second chance.

A recent Scarborough Research study revealed that over the past year home improvements were conducted by 49% of adults in 75 U.S. cities. People that reside in smaller markets were more inclined to do home improvements than big city dwellers.

Harrisburg, Penn. was the number one city in the survey. Over 59% of the city’s residents started a home improvement project. Toledo and Buffalo, NY tied for second place with 56% of the residents in these towns starting DIY project in the past year. Surely the local lumber liquidaters are happy.

Detroit, Flint, MI., Atlanta, Syracuse, NY., Rochester, NY, Indianapolis and Cincinnati, OH rounded out the top ten. More than half of the residents in these towns started renovations on their houses in the past year.

The place where residents were most reluctant to begin do it yourself projects was Honolulu. In the past year only 37% of residents felt inclined to altered their homes. Other towns where homeowners were reluctant to brave the waters of home self renovations included: Fresno, California 40%, Las Vegas 40%, New York 48%, Chicago 46%, Miami 45%, Los Angeles 44%, Washington DC 44%, San Francisco 43% and San Diego 42%.

Alisa Joseph, the vice president of Scarborough Research, said that the survey provides opportunities for home service advertisers. Joseph said that home service advertisers can use the information from the survey to get in touch with consumers that want to improve their homes. Scarborough is a great source for advertisers to use when defining potential markets for home improvements, according to Joseph.

The survey also discovered the specific types of home renovations that were most popular. It seems that simple improvements like changing color schemes and sprucing up the lawn were frequently performed by homeowners. Interior painting, wallpapering and landscaping were performed by 25% of consumers. Security system installation was done by just 2% of those surveyed and pool or spa installation by 1%.

Smaller home improvements were very popular but consumers are starting to be more willing to spend large amounts on home improvements. In 1999 30% of home improvements cost over $3,000. That number has climbed to 36%. Showing that over time consumers seem to be getting more and more comfortable with making changes to their homes.

The survey also turned up some other interesting finds about the groups of people that tend to make changes to their homes. Those between the ages of 35 and 54 make up 46% of home improvers. About 63% are married and more than half live in a home with a 50,000 or more income. Internet users are more inclined to invest in home improvements. People who tune in to the 70’s Oldies, Classic Hits, New Country and All Sports radio are 14% more likely to do home improvements.

Do-it-yourself homeowners that have only experienced cutting or drilling without a jig do not know how a woodworking jig can alter things. It is very frustrating when holes are drilled too deep into a picture frame molding. Things don’t square up and the last leg of the project is spent trying to recover the lost shape of the item.

Then, of course, there have been the terrible routing or dovetail cuts that will not line up in the end. Having a job handy will help alleviate this and all other woodworking problems you may encounter.

You don’t have to buy pricy or fancy jigs. Most of the time you will be able to make your own jig when completing little jobs. However, for those that are consistent woodworking hobbyist, it is wise to have a variety of jigs to choose from. By a few different jigs and find out how much money and time you can save on your projects.

If you are on a budget when you are stocking your workshop, jigs should be one of the must have items you buy. A dowel jig will let you cut dowel holes to very accurate diameters and widths. This is a good thing in furniture making because dowels can keep together drawer fronts to the frame or for putting rigid legs into tables and chairs.

The dovetail jig is another must have in the jig department. Dovetail jigs are responsible for that professional looking finish you see on drawers. Look at a bureau that is at 50 years or older. You will notice how dovetails used to be used on drawers. These elegant pieces of furniture have lasted all of this time for a reason. Dovetailed drawers are durable. They will last for decades, possibly even centuries if they are made properly.

Router jigs will support wood while it passes through the saw making the fine, even ornate details that professional woodworking projects are made of. Bevelled edges of tables and the front of drawers make both sides beautiful when a router jig is used on the wood.

The Kreg jig is an excellent tool to have on hand. The Kreg set typically has some face clamps to keep are used to hold these jigs in place. With the Kreg jig you can drill to exact levels and hole sizes for interlocking fitting matches.

There are a few tools that home improvement beginners will want to eventually add to their workshop. When you first start out and the projects are limited, you only need a few tools. However, once you have completed a few jobs. Invest in a few tools that make projects easier. Simple jigs will make work easier.

No Rules - Creative Material Use For Walkways

Posted by Keith Markensen
by Keith Markensen

It is unlikely that you want a driveway or walkway to be a dominant feature in your yard. When you are planning these areas, you should allow enough space for them to be fully functional–to allow enough room for the traffic they will receive–without being overbearing. Ideally, you should design your home so that the garage is close to the house and near the street. Having the garage near the street and close to the home will make less pathways necessary.

Your driveway needs to be large enough to allow for off-street parking. You need to design the structure of the driveway well also. Most importantly, you need to create a quality drainage system. If the soil under the driveway cannot drain, the wet soil will cause the driveway to break down, especially with heavy vehicles driving on it. You should build your driveway out of stable materials that won’t be washed away by storms or displaced by snowplows. Exceptions can be made to stable materials if your driveway is exceptionally large, or if your landscaping style calls for something else. In these cases, gravel or crushed rocks can work. If you use materials such as these, just know that you will have more maintenance to do.

Walkways should look like they belong where they are placed. Adding paths through your landscaping garden will greatly improve your lawn. It will encourage people to wander through your yard to view the beautiful things you planted. In addition, the path can add a unique look, and it will allow you to get back to work on your plants without trampling over other plants.

You must be very conscious of the material you choose for the path. Concrete may not be right, especially for a path through a garden. More natural materials such as wood, flagstone, or tanbark, would be better alternatives for this. If you have a colonial house, brink will compliment it well. A more modern house tends to look nice with wood. Of course there are variations to this, using landscaping bricks for example, but you need to use your personal style and desire to make your choice.

Garden Pools and Fountains

All plants and animals need water to live, so it is no surprise that we are naturally attracted to water in any form. The use of water will enrich your garden and delight your senses. You can even have a garden pool on your patio or terrace if you wish. Moving water is especially intriguing, such as a fountain or a winding stream. These water features can be intermixed with garden flowers and stones for a very nice effect. The water will actually help the plants grow, just through it’s evaporation. This is a method of giving plants relief from excessive heat and dryness.

You should be able to see the pool or water feature from multiple places in your garden. It is pretty simple to install a small pool or fountain in your garden. You do not need much power, just a small motor and pump for the fountain or if you have a small stream. You can be creative with the styling you choose for the water feature and the area around it.
